MADONNA IS A NEW MOM

October 5, 2006 | celebrity | editor | 0 Comments

After deciding no one was paying enough attention to her, Madonna has adopted a baby boy from Malawi.  Malawi may or may not be that kid from the Jungle Book. It might be an island in Hawaii.

UPDATE – Apparently Malawi is a country in Africa. Their chief exports include lion attacks and terrifying diseases. And according to Reuters:

(Madonna has) plans to fund a center for 1,000 orphans, many of whom lost parents to AIDS in the impoverished African nation. The "Material Girl" and an entourage arrived in the Malawian capital Lilongwe by private plane early on Wednesday and were quickly whisked away to an undisclosed location in a fleet of cars and trucks. Government officials said the 48-year-old singer, already a mother of two, chose the one-year-old orphan from among 12 children specially chosen prior to her arrival in the country, which has legions of children orphaned by the AIDS epidemic.

Just once it would be nice if a celebrity wasn't completely insane. I'm being ridiculous of course, because attention whores like Madonna have always treated impoverished nations like the zoo, and their orphanages like the gift shop. Except, instead of bringing home a penguin snow globe or giant pencil, you bring home a human being. Up top there is Madonnas new video for "Jump", featuring that new urban gymnastics that everyone is talking about, making this the trendiest video of 2002. Oh, that Madonna, always with the hot new trends!

UPDATE – or maybe not, according to Madonnas rep.  (thanks to sexy-named Gabrielle)
