The Associated Press has decided that, barring any major events, they will no longer run wire stories about Paris Hilton.  In 2006, Hilton appeared on the wire an average of twice a week.  Editor and Publisher says:

The wire service's entertainment editor Jesse Washington sent a memo to staffers on Feb. 13 that said the AP would not run any mention of Paris Hilton on the wire … Washington (said), "There was a surprising amount of hand-wringing. A lot of people in the newsroom were saying this was tampering with the news" … The AP was largely successful in the experiment, but Washington said that, unfortunately, her name did pop up in a couple of stories.

Well I bet Paris Hilton does become a part of some major events.  There's a lot of momentum in that kid.  I see a lot of potential.  And I can think of another famous someone who started out almost the exact same way:  spoiled sexpot from a wealthy family, reputation as a whore, was mean to people beneath them.  And that man my friends … was Antoine Lavoisier, the father of modern chemistry.  Really makes you think, huh.

How will CNN fill its time slots without retarded stories to yammer about for hours at a time?

Yes, and Lavoisier was publicly beheaded, wasn’t he? Hmmm…

LISA: I just created an account solely for the purpose of commenting that if your comment is serious, it is one of the most purely ignorant things I have ever read on this website. And holy shit is that saying a lot.

The AP not cover Paris? That’s like Lindsey not drinking “bottled water.” That’s like Britney not attacking cars with umbrellas. That’s like Anna Nicole not using copious amounts of drugs. I guess all good things must come to an end.

If I recall, Lisa is British, so her knowledge of our “AP” would be like us guessing which British news service is most used.

I think this will be a relief to Paris who has never sought the spotlight, preferring to live her life quietly and in a dignified manner, so her many works of charity will go unnoticed. Strange but true: Paris has adopted over 50 Third World orphans, easily eclipsing Brangelina. Just because she dresses them up in blue and gray uniforms and has them fight to the death in a barren field during winter in no way cheapens her humanitarian gesture.

I think it’s awesome you compare Paris Hilton to the father of modern chemistry! Rock on!

If the AP stops running stories on Paris Hilton the terrorists win. Damn those pesky terrorists… they win again!
