The Simpsons is finally getting cancelled

By brendon October 06, 2011 @ 8:34 PM

Fox has made 1 billion dollars off the Simpsons during it’s 23 year run, but this season will be the last unless the cast agrees to a massive pay cut by tomorrow. Re-read that part about Fox making a billion dollars and you’ll get an idea about how excited they are about that idea.

The Wrap says…

Fox wants “The Simpsons” for one more season at most — and only if it can pay 25 to 30 percent less for it, an executive close to the show told TheWrap. The disclosure comes as producers have agreed to salary cuts to keep the show going, and the show’s six voice actors have been asked to decide by Friday whether they will agree to have their payment cut almost in half.
TheWrap reported Wednesday that, as ammunition in their salary dispute, the actors have commissioned a study estimating the show has made $1 billion in profits over its 23-season run. The study projected that the studio will eventually make about $2.9 billion from the show.

They should probably agree to the cut because that show has sucked for at least 15 years. If I were Fox I would threaten to just re-air the fist seven seasons in order. I’d explain how those would be way better and wouldn’t cost a dime. And if that didn’t work I’d tell them the cookies they just ate were poisoned.

Honestly the show has been good for the past couple season, it did have 4 or 5 that were pretty bad. I really hope this isn’t the way the Simpsons go out, they deserve better. You saying the show has been bad is kind funny because this site has kind of sucked for a while now, hoping it gets better.

Ahem, how much did The Simpsons bring in THIS year? It wasn’t a billion dollars, that’s for sure. Family Guy and South Park are better and funnier, and even they are getting tired.

Voice acting is not hard work. There are thousands of people out there who could do Homer’s voice, many for free. Dan Cast and Nancy Cart already make $400,000 PER EPISODE. Let them walk.

I’m confused. What does this have to do with Ashton Kutcher?

Simpsons are puppets. Ashton’s show almost got cancelled too. These stories are very similar. I really can’t wait for the Footloose remake.

That’ll be weid if the Simpsons goes away. That show has been on for most of my life.

Gotta love those poor actors – I think they make $400k PER EPISODE. And they are complaining about going down to $200k? Screw em.

Nancy Cartwright should grab any amount of money they offer.
She has what they call in the business…
    A face for radio.

Futurama has been vastly superior to The Simpsons since it began and yet it languishes on a mid-tier cable channel. Ditto for South Park. And yet Family Tard gets prime time on Fox; meanwhile, the vastly superior American Dad plays second banana and that FFF (Formerly Fat Fuck) Jonah Hill is getting a cartoon. What the fuck, America?

Just BS Fox negotiating tactics. It’s already been renewed, and the cast are not taking a 45% reduction in pay.
