Andre Benjamin Sells Out With Integrity

December 5, 2014 | celebrity | matt-ralston | 0 Comments

Every artist has to grapple with the concept of staying true to their art versus sullying their integrity for the highest possible dollar amount. Except Andre Benjamin from Outkast. He can do both. Benjamin has found a loophole whereby he admits to compromising himself, which he in turn equates to a testament of his artistic fortitude. It’s an Olympic Gold when it comes to circular reasoning. It would be like Bill Cosby admitting to raping women and then quoting himself at the League of Women’s Voters Summit. Speaking about playing some highly grossing shows comprised of music he doesn’t like much anymore, Benjamin said:

“I felt like there was a certain sell-out in a way, because I didn’t wanna do it — I knew I was doing it for a reason. So maybe if I’m telling people, ‘I am selling out,’ then it’s not as bad as pretending. It’s being honest about it like, ‘Shit, I did these songs when I was 17 and I’m out here pedaling them now.’ But it’s the honest thing, that’s what it is.”

Bravo sir. If the dude who broke into my car knocked on my door today and returned my softball equipment I would thank him for coming clean. Then I would ask him why the fuck he did it in the first place. He’s a petty criminal and you’re a multi-millionaire. Do the math.
