Jay Leno Writer Disses Conan O’Brien

John Macks, a guy who wrote for Jay Leno beginning in the Ford Administration, wrote a new book about monologues which is strange because Jay Leno’s monologues were spoken warm milk. In the book he takes a few shots at Conan O’Brien and really shows his age. The book is actually titled “Monologue: What Makes America Laugh… Before Bed:”

“He has been on the air for 22 years, but he still has the same nervous tics he had in 1993. At bedtime people want to ease into sleep, for some people [O’Brien] is hard to watch onstage.”

I was unaware the basis of great comedy is putting people to sleep. They actually have this thing called DVR. I’m sure most of Leno’s viewers are still working the pliers on a Sears model built-in, but it’s pretty fantastic. This asshole is assuming the average viewer still talks to the mailman and tunes into the Tonight Show to catch a glimpse of Sinatra. People do stay up past midnight, and there are shows marketed to those people. In fact, the wide consensus is these shows are far superior in content to the one your wrote for. Try staying up past your bedtime you crotchety cunt. Also, nobody reads books any more. Enjoy the dog food.
