Roller Derby Chicks Self Congratulatory

March 11, 2015 | celebrity | matt-ralston | 0 Comments

Roller derby chicks have many hobbies like givingĀ themselves fake names and shaming non vegetarians in between getting neck tattoos and parsing terminology regarding their sexuality. Occasionally they’ll also lecture you about the plight of Native Americans and sometimes even play roller derby. Then there’s the long spiels about gender equality and why dudes aren’t allowed on the team. A new photo series called Body by Derby seeks to empower roller derby contestants so they can feel good about themselves when they aren’t painting self portraits reading their own poetry to the homeless. Body by Derby photographer Cory Layman took a bunch of pictures of roller derby chicks which he explained was done in solidarity to the human race or some shit while he dangled a loose leaf cigarette in front of his turtleneck and attempted to felate himself:

“Rather than celebrating our individual characteristics, we instead hold up a set of characteristics as ideal, and woe to the person whose genetics make that impossible… My hope is that someone can look through these images and find someone very similar to themselves. They can then see the beauty and power that person has and realize that they too are beautiful and powerful.”

Sometimes I go in the yard and build a snowman in hopes of curing AIDS. If that doesn’t work I throw down a bucket of frozen yogurt and puff my gut out in the mirror. I often fail to see the point of my actions or what connection they have to social justice but there’s a lot of bad in the world and if we can convince everyone they are beautiful it can be eradicated. My sources say this will be through roller derby but I’m still doing jumping jacks in the rain just to be safe.
