British actor Mark Rylance won the 2016 Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Bridge of Spies. Moments later her came out as anti-Israel. Rylance and over 1,000 other British artists like Roger Waters have signed an Artists for Palestine pledge that states,
“We support the Palestinian struggle for freedom, justice and equality. In response to the call from Palestinian artists and cultural workers for a cultural boycott of Israel, we pledge to accept neither professional invitations to Israel, nor funding, from any institutions linked to its government until it complies with international law and universal principles of human rights.”
No mention of suicide bombers blowing up teenagers in line for a disco or falafel shoppers at a supermarket. It could be driven by a collective British guilt over the Balfour Declaration. Or as a diversionary tactic aimed at continuing to distract everyone from the fact that the Brits are more responsible for the Middle East clusterfuck than anyone else. Famed publicist and extremely Jewish person Bobby Zarem responded to Rylance’s new public stance,
“He is a ball-less lowlife and you can quote me. If the Academy voters had known Rylance had denounced Israel, there is no way he could have won the Oscar… Spielberg — who is a major, major supporter of Israel — made that piece of shit a star. He should never get another movie.”
Coming out against the Jews in Hollywood is like coming out against the Italians in the Northern Jersey cement business, except that while never working again, you’ll be alive to realize it’s happening. Nice timing, Rylance. Enjoy the red carpet in Ramallah next year. Even their Seacrest is gay.
