Led Zeppelin Stairway To Victory

A jury ruled Led Zeppelin didn’t steal the song Stairway to Heaven from an obscure acid rock band named Spirit fronted by a guy who is now dead. Jimmy Page and Robert Plant both played the I Don’t Recall card when asked whether they had ever heard the song in question or met the band Spirit. Yet a concert review on their own website shows Spirit opened for Led Zeppelin during one of their first U.S. concerts. To be fair they were probably so high on mescaline and busy fucking Spirit’s wives that they didn’t notice.

If you listen to both songs there are some notable similarities, but if you listen to the radio half the songs sound the same. The jury sided with Zeppelin because their lawyers are much better than those of the loser relatives of dead guys who have nothing better to do with their lives than file lawsuits. That was forty years ago, let it go. Perhaps record some music yourself. Maybe a Led Zeppelin cover. Stairway to Heaven is a good one.
