Red Cross Pool Safety Posters Bring Back Memories

June 28, 2016 | WTF | Lex Jurgen | 0 Comments

The Red Cross wants everybody to know they are committed to inclusion and diversity of ethnic and racial minorities. Somebody has to play the role of malicious unruly child in their pool safety posters. As part of their effort to remind the summer public pool crowd that drownings are bad for business, The Red Cross produces poorly illustrated posters depicting “cool” pool behavior as evidenced by the well mannered white children, and “not cool” antics perpetrated by the negro children allowed into the pool by court order even though they obviously can’t swim.

This is the kind of poster that decades ago white people wouldn’t have noticed and minorities would have grumbled to themselves about honkey a-holes. You can’t do this shit anymore in 2016. Once you make the concerted effort to We Pals up your publicly displayed brochures and posters, you are now rightfully obliged to make sure all the bad guys aren’t coincidentally all black and brown. There’s kowtowing to political correctness and then there’s taking two seconds to ensure you don’t have to spend two full days digging yourself out of a shitstorm and pay Kinko’s all over again for new copies. Pick your battles. And obviously only swim with the polite white kids.
