Kevin Durant Also Writes a Stupid Letter

July 4, 2016 | celebrity | Lex Jurgen | 0 Comments

At some point basketball players decided to publish personal essays about agonizing decisions such as which team should I let pay me $150 million. Reading essays by essayists isn’t even a pleasure. Perusing heavy handed thank you letters to the city you’re ditching is a literary kick in the nuts. Kevin Durant followed in the grand tradition of Kobe’s love letter to basketball and LeBron’s decision with “My Next Chapter” in the Player’s Tribune:

This has been by far the most challenging few weeks in my professional life. I understood cognitively that I was facing a crossroads in my evolution as a player and as a man, and that it came with exceptionally difficult choices. What I didn’t truly understand, however, was the range of emotions I would feel during this process.

Thanks for sharing your diary entry, Nancy. There’s a mansion and a Lamborghini at your crossroads so this isn’t exactly a Southern blues song. All we wanted to know was which top NBA team you’re ditching OKC to join. The Golden State Warriors. There’s your lead. Dot dot dot, if you wish to continue with the next four paragraphs of emotional dribble you wouldn’t even read from a chick you were screwing, click here. Play within yourself, Durant.
