Bobby Brown Wins $36 Million for His Dead Daughter

When an older drug addict dies in the bathtub in the Beverly Hilton, everybody shakes their heads and pretends they didn’t see it coming. When her daughter goes the same way for the same reason, everybody demands an investigation. Watching a twenty-year old girl die is tough, even when she’s clearly done it to herself.

The police found no criminal blame in the drowning, coma then later death of Bobbi Kristina Brown. There was some thought that her long time boyfriend Nick Gordon might’ve held some culpability since he was also her drug connect. Charges were never filed. Bobby Brown and surviving family filed a fat ass civil lawsuit against Nick Gordon for taking his daughter’s life. Gordon never even bothered to show up. Brown and other members of his family got to cry a lot on the stand and pretend they weren’t equally or more to blame for a young girl being immersed in bad people and drugs her entire life.

To make the entire proceedings fully ludicrous, the judge in the case awarded the dead girl’s estate a shit ton of money based on her loss of earnings in what would’ve been a lucrative career. The basis for future earnings is unclear since there were no past earnings and smack addiction and living at home doesn’t pay what it used to. Still, the judge settled on a $36 million civil order against Nick Gordon. Gordon didn’t show up either. Though it’s possible he sent a copy of his balance sheet showing he has ten cents and a cheese sandwich to his name, he’s a committed drug abuser, and fuck you.

The Brown family concluded that even if they get no money out of Gordon, the civil judgement provides for Gordon legally being the responsible party in Bobbi Kristina’s death. It’s not clear if her family members meant that as a matter of principle or merely a big, “Phew, that was close.”
