Power doesn't corrupt in any manner comparable to fame. As friends of Tarek and Christina El Moussa from HGTV's Flip or Flop race to divulge all their friends' private moments to the tabloids, the consensus seems to be that Tarek dug flipping houses while Christina dug being on TV, hot, blonde, and well-known. Somewhere in there are the answers to why he ran out of the house with a gun this past Spring and why the couple is now split.
Not to too overtly pimp my book, Man Rules, but one in there is about warning signs with women. The desire to be famous in any way, let alone pressing to be a reality TV star, is one big motherfucking red flags. Your marriage would have a greater chance for success if you suddenly discovered your wife had a penis on your honeymoon.
Narcissim is deadly to a partnership of any kind. Occasionally, too self-involved fame whores will get together and make it work by fiat. Kanye and Kim come to mind. But even there, as with heroin addict couples who initially bond over their shared compulsion, mistrust and "who stole my shit" claims eventually lead to blowups. Real estate agenting is merely hooking to the warm scent of gingerbread.
