Julia Ioffe Seems Even Keeled

Political reporters in the DC to New York corridor were smug assholes even before the advent of cable news and social media. Now with a platform to be “defenders of the realm”, these overly educated activists posing as legitimate journalists have risen to a level of scorn worthy shit munchers on par with Rich Kids of Instagram and Philly sports fans. This cuts across both parties, though the Trump victory has certainly opened up the self-righteous floodgates or pursed lipped Ivy League grads from the left.

Julia Ioffee has spent her ten year junior political reporting career moving between progressive leaning news outlets and various plug-and-play popups on MSNBC and the like. She would provide objective journalism if only the world didn’t need her personal opinions now more than ever. She was already set to leave her current gig at Politico for The Atlantic in a month when she dropped this turd on Twitter in relation to news Ivanka Trump would be taking a job in the White House:

Ioffe is blessed with the super powers of being able to mean Tweet overtly sexist shit about a woman only getting a job by fucking the boss, let alone her dad, and still receive across the board laudations from politically sympathetic followers. Trump banging his daughter jokes are funny when told by Louis CK. I’ve sketched out a few crude cartoons that made my mailman chuckle when I shared. Less entertaining when the aggravated spittle of a long standing political opponent posing as a journalist. Hate speech is acceptable when targeted at people you hate. That seems like a grand exception.

Ioffe was terminated by Politico where she was leaving anyhow. She removed her incest Tweet because even though she insists she stands by the message, that doesn’t mean actually standing by the message. Millennial stands are different than those of yore. Ioffe’s new employer The Atlantic noted that they still intend to hire her because she’s apologized and they’re certain she’ll adhere by their standards. It’s unclear the basis for that statement since she clearly didn’t for her most recent employer, but saying, fuck it, this only makes her more valuable to our anti-Trump readership would’ve been too on the nose.

It’s nearly impossible not to be an asshole when your passion is being super political or super religious. It’s inevitably about you telling other people why they’re wrong and you’re right based on personal conjecture. The only hypocrisy is in pretending this isn’t you. When you own up to being a prick, a wealth of unfettered opportunities for crude dads fucking their own daughters jokes open up to you. If you’re still insisting on being called a “reporter”, control yourself with your late night zingers you’re certain will make you famous. You’re simply not big enough for these pants.
