Rebel Wilson Is A Winner

June 15, 2017 | celebrity | Lex Jurgen | 0 Comments

Rebel Wilson took home a victory in her civil case in Australia against Bauer Media whose gossip magazine she claimed called her a liar on numerous occasions and “stained her reputation”. Reputation is all a man or obscenely large woman has in this world. It’s priceless. Though Wilson also asserted that the stained reputation cost her movie roles which has a very specific price being paid in an undisclosed amount now from Bauer to Wilson.

The Aussie gossip magazine targeted Wilson for some reason back in 2015 with a whole string of articles about how she routinely made up stories about her childhood and background. Wilson spent six days on the stand working through most every supposed lie showing how they were at least somewhat true and that the magazine had no way to prove otherwise. In short, the gossip rag made shit up about Wilson making shit up. The ever present danger in going after an obese not super talented entertainer and refusing to use the fact that she’s obese and not super talented to do so.

Wilson gave the standard post-victory speech about this not being about her, but being about somebody speaking truth to media power on behalf of others. Then reverted back to herself:

“I am glad, very glad, that the jury has agreed with me. I just look forward to rebuilding my career now that the record has been set straight.”

Certainly the issue as to whether or not Rebel Wilson is distantly related to Walt Disney (as was discussed in the case) was what was holding up her role as Belle in Beauty and the Beast, or Wonder Woman. There’s inevitably a spew of articles about fat actresses who break on the scene as a comedic foil in some movie and how it’s a sign that Hollywood is ready to start including obese women in their main roles and offerings. It never happens. Everybody in the industry is a progressive until it comes time to losing money for no good reason.

You’re the funny fat girl. Melissa McCarthy owns your two to three possible movies a year until she decides to quit. You get fifth chair on all Pitch Perfect sequels. It’s not everything you wanted, but by point of fact, 99.9% of people in this world never get to make a living being in the movies. And many of them watch what they eat and hit the gym hard to fit the casting requirements. Invest these defamation damages wisely.
