Thom Yorke Defying Roger Waters Anti-Israel Campaign

June 5, 2017 | celebrity | Lex Jurgen | 0 Comments

Roger Waters has dedicated the last few decades of not making worthwhile new music to leading cultural boycotts against Israel. Cultural boycotts are a euphemism for writing letters to Miley Cyrus urging her to re-route her international tour stops away from The Jewish State.

A pro-Palestinian stance is hardly unique for European celebrities. It probably runs 50-50 in honest moments. 60-40 when the Clooney’s are in-country. The British in particular feel an obligation to the Arabs since they royally fucked up the Middle East during colonial rule with their artificial nation state designations. With England’s rapidly growing Muslim population, it’s chic to be anti-Israel.

Waters’ boycott recently hit Radiohead who received a pleading telegram to skip their July 19th summer tour date in Tel Aviv. Ignore the legend of Masada, canceling Radiohead might just break the Israelis.

Waters reminded Thom Yorke of Radiohead that Gilmour road his coattails on The Wall and even an idiot knows Jerusalem should be the rightful capital of a new Palestinian state. Yorke told Waters to fuck off, in a polite British kind of way:

“It’s deeply distressing that they choose to, rather than engage with us personally, throw shit at us in public. It’s deeply disrespectful to assume that we’re either being misinformed or that we’re so retarded we can’t make these decisions ourselves. I thought it was patronizing in the extreme. It’s offensive and I just can’t understand why going to play a rock show or going to lecture at a university [is a problem to them].”

Yorke’s point being, cultural boycotts are plainly ineffective and the brainchild of aged rock stars chain-vaping from adorable pens. Radiohead is hardly a conservative stalwart. Though Yorke distinguishes himself in much of the music community by speaking plainly so as not to sound stupid. Bass usually beats keyboard. This is a solid tank for bass.
