Kirk Cameron Hurricane Comments Cause Social Media Outrage Storm

Celebrities who can’t keep their mouth shut or comments to themselves about serious issues should be stripped of their high ranking human statuses. The most recent offender is Kirk Cameron on Hurricane Irma. Apparently Kirk has become God’s sole spokesman on why hurricanes happen. Instead of donating actual cash that could help people in need now, he’s donating his words of wisdom that only helped himself get in trouble publicly with not only upset atheists and angry agnostic individuals, but almost everyone with an account on social media.

Jennifer Lawrence blamed Mother Nature and Donald Trump for Hurricanes Harvey and Irma, but Kirk Cameron has his own ideas on who sent them. The actor said the hurricanes are “a spectacular display of God’s immense power” and he didn’t send them without reason. “When he puts his power on display, it’s never without reason. There’s a purpose. And we may not always understand what that purpose is, but we know it’s not random and we know that weather is sent to cause us to respond to God in humility, awe and repentance,” he said in a video on Facebook. The 46-year-old said the hurricanes should remind us that God “supplies our life, breath and everything else so that you and I reach out to him. “He asked his fans to use his remarks about the hurricanes as a way to answer their childrens’ questions about why the storms were sent.

The last thing anything stuck in a difficult situation wants to hear is patronizing remarks from a privileged person not in their position. Politics and religion are two of the worst things to talk about when it comes to why natural disasters happen. This wasn’t God or Trump, but if more people with the mentality of Kirk picked up a sixth-grade science book they would get the overall gist of how hurricanes happen. But Kirk is apparently above common sense and common courtesy. If he truly feels the way he does maybe he can skydive into the eye of the hurricane and pray it away. There’s already a group of people on Miami Beach you can grab a bible from before you go.
