Harvey Weinstein Begged Hollywood For Help

October 10, 2017 | celebrity | Lex Jurgen | 0 Comments

There are two industries that detests the airing of dirty laundry. The international child sex trafficking networks and the entertainment industry. Largely for similar reasons. They don’t see themselves as horrible.

Harvey Weinstein sexual harassment stories have gone from non-existent to a dime-a-dozen in the matter of days. Unlike the Cosby cases which directed one-hundred percent of the blame on Cosby, despite the certainty he was aided and abetted by many, Weinstein’s unraveling has exposed an entire matrix of cover your ass partnerships. That’s not only the rest of Hollywood remaining silent, but the Fourth Estate being exposed as covering up for Weinstein through the years. Weinstein bought reporters and heavy paid advertising in publication to ensure he was never outed.

Everybody wanted something from him, needed something him, or was taking money from the guy. Like a triple-chinned Frank White in King of New York. Why won’t Rose McGowan name Weinstein by name in her holy warrior rants? That’s worth investigating.

Now it turns out Weinstein sent a last ditch pleading email to every single Hollywood VIP he knew prior to being fired from his own company, begging for their support to keep that from happening. Studio chiefs past and present were urged to pen quick letters backing Weinstein against his own company’s board:

“My board is thinking of firing me. All I’m asking, is let me take a leave of absence and get into heavy therapy and counseling. Whether it be in a facility or somewhere else, allow me to resurrect myself with a second chance. A lot of the allegations are false as you know but given therapy and counseling as other people have done, I think I’d be able to get there. I could really use your support or just your honesty if you can’t support me. But if you can, I need you to send a letter to my private email address. The letter would only go to the board and no one else. We believe what the board is trying to do is not only wrong but might be illegal and would destroy the company. If you could write this letter backing me, getting me the help and time away I need, and also stating your opposition to the board firing me, it would help a lot. I am desperate for your help. Just give me the time to have therapy. Do not let me be fired. If the industry supports me, that is all I need.”

It’s hard to imagine all the adjectives that come to mind with this letter. Pathetic, disingenuous, pitiful, juvenile, desperate. But there also must be a word for, hey, these fuckers covered for me for a quarter-century, why not now? Logical thinking, if you exclude the massive publicity now surrounding the story. There’s no evidence a single person responded. In fact, a few made sure to go on record with a No Fucking Way.

This almost makes Weinstein a tragic character by Greek definition. Though the classic poets never penned a character who ejaculated into a potted plant in front of a TV reporter. Maybe lost in the translation. He was once a king and the peerage did tacitly endorse his disturbing proclivities. Now, a man without a country, locked outside the city walls.
