Guess Kate Upton Won’t Cooperate With Investigation

March 1, 2018 | celebrity | Sam Robeson | 0 Comments

This February Kate Upton came forward with sexual assault allegations against Guess co-founder Paul Marciano – claiming that since her very first lingerie photoshoot in 2010 Marciano has assaulted her and acted inappropriately towards her. To be quite frank if I knew I was going to be spending a day with a writhing barely-clothed Kate Upton I’d probably rub one out on the car ride over so as to be my utmost gentlemanly self during the shoot. Ben Stiller in There’s Something About Mary-style. But Marciano didn’t get this memo, and Upton didn’t get the memo that every model ever is sexually molested, so here we are. Sort of a miscommunication situation.

Guess has placed Marciano on temporary leave, and is conducting an internal investigation into Upton’s claims. A gropy middle-aged exec molested a young model. How will they ever crack this code. Once Upton discovered that Guess would be using Marciano’s personal lawyer for the investigation she flipped her Insta shit, and declared that she would in no way cooperate with Guess due to the solidarity they’re showing with Marciano:

Hearing how this ‘investigation’ is being conducted, and also knowing a strong fear of retaliation still exists within Guess’ corporate offices, is extremely disappointing and upsetting. The #MeToo movement is not one of smoke and mirrors, or for corporate office PR stunts to impress shareholders — it’s a call to action for TRUE change.

To conduct an investigation like this seems like a stunt, and is a clear indication to me that Guess is not taking these claims seriously, nor are they committed to making changes at the highest levels. Until Guess makes a commitment to conduct an unbiased investigation, I have declined to participate. I look forward to participating if and when Guess retains a truly independent firm to run the entire investigation.

You can read her full Instagram post below, but basically Upton is secretly thanking the #MeToo Gods that she’s uncovered another layer of adversity. The real solution to this whole thing would be to employ more ugly models that no one would want to molest. Thoughts, Gigi and Bella Hadid?

Let’s make true change happen! #metoo #TRUEchange
