The Rock Is Cooking Crippling Depression

April 3, 2018 | celebrity | Sam Robeson | 0 Comments

Every couple of years a brave celebrity comes forward to remind people that men can have depression too. Of course we can. I’ve had to watch Tara Reid shrivel into a sea monkey over the past decade. You don’t think that leaves me standing on the edge of a cliff? Her tits have dropped by a foot and a half. Talk about depressing. The Rock is the latest celebrity to admit to being a little bitch, and in an interview with The Express, states:

Struggle and pain is real. I was devastated and depressed. I reached a point where I didn’t want to do a thing or go anywhere. I was crying constantly.

This of course is in direct contrast to The Rock’s chipper public persona. He doesn’t seem funny enough to be your average suicidal comedian or talented enough to be a suicidal creative genius, so what, steroids, could, steroids, it, steroids, be? Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson followed up the press he received for his bravery with this tweet on Monday morning:

This came just a couple days after this tweet:

What’s the connection? The Rock will do anything for money and fame. Just kidding. The connection is the fact that social media is bringing us together. This February The Rock managed to pimp his show Ballers on Instagram while simultaneously recounting the time his mothers wandered into traffic in an attempt to take her own life when Johnson was only fifteen. This experience left a lasting impression on The Rock’s psyche, which inevitably has contributed to his struggles with depression. Also, catch Ballers on HBO. And don’t wait to get help for your depression. And don’t miss Rampage in IMAX theaters this Friday. And also, steroids.

Not your typical scene on our comedy #ballers, as I cracked a beer open toasting my character’s brother, William who committed suicide. Got me thinkin’ though bout how many of us have been affected by suicide of our friends, family. Struggle and pain is real. We’ve all been there on some level or another. My mom tried to check out when I was 15. She got outta the car on Interstate 65 in Nashville and walked into oncoming traffic. Big rigs and cars swerving outta the way not to hit her. I grabbed her and pulled her back on the gravel shoulder of the road. What’s crazy about that suicide attempt is to this day, she has no recollection of it whatsoever. Probably best she doesn’t. Shits of a scene to shoot – didn’t like it – but it did reminder that we always gotta do our best to really pay attention when people are in pain. Help ‘em thru it, get ‘em talkin’ about the struggle and remind ‘em that they’re not alone. We got lucky that day when I was 15 and that ain’t always the case.
