Catherine Zeta-Jones Has Faith That Michael Douglas Isn’t A MeToo Monster

They don’t make women anymore like they used to. Catherine Zeta-Jones is the last of a dying breed. She supported her husband after he was accused of being involved in some MeToo mischief. A woman that worked for Michael Douglas 30 years ago attempted to smear his name after MeToo became trendier than DIY home decor. I mean, nailing a basket to the wall that was meant for the floor is fun and all, but accusing an employer of sexual misconduct from over three decades ago and seeing if it sticks is a way better way to spend a Saturday morning. According to Susan Braudy, the woman accusing Douglas, Mike liked to talk filthy and wank while she watched. Which, if true, has me questioning who did it better? Louis C.K. or Michael Douglas?

Michael Douglas had claimed that a woman named Susan Braudy, who worked for him 30 years ago, was selling a #MeToo story about himself. The Hollywood Reporter picked it up, and allegedly informed Michael that the woman’s accusations included that he used to talk dirty, jerk off around her and fired her before blackballing her from future jobs. Michael denied the accusations, but THR decided to run the story anyway. At the time the accusations started gaining some traction in the news, Catherine Zeta-Jones appeared on The View, and she stated that Michael was “honest, open, and transparent

Catherine Zeta-Jones recently gave an interview to the The Times. The Times were curious about how she handled the misconduct allegations against her husband ten months earlier.

“My children and I were profoundly devastated by those allegations. And I was torn about where my absolute morals lie. This woman came out of nowhere and accused my husband. I had a very big conversation with him, with the kids in the room, and said, ‘Do you understand if more comes out…’”

Catherine says that Michael assured them all that nothing else was going to come out.

“By telling us that there is no story here and that time will tell. And, of course, it did. There was nothing to back it up at all. For any accusation that comes out that isn’t backed up, that knocks the [#MeToo] movement back 20 years.”

I’m glad Catherine supported Michael in his time of need, but I feel like she was more worried about him embarrassing her rather than her “morals.” Her main worry was if anything else was going to come out. Her statement about Douglas being “honest, open, and transparent” doesn’t exactly refute the claims. So I’m guessing maybe Michael sat her down and explained that there comes a time in a man’s life where rubbing one out in front of your personal assistant is a rite of passage. Things may be different now, but before, a court of law used to respect verbal contracts. So, 30 years ago, when he whipped his willy out, called her a dirty slut in the most respectable way possible, and asked her if he could continue to choke his chicken in her presence, a nod of confirmation was all that was needed for consent to be upheld should the matter ever be brought up before a judge.
