ISAIAH WASHINGTON – the former “Grey's Anatomy” star is being evicted from his home near Santa Monica because he is 5 months late on the rent.  Which in this case equals $100,000.  People in Omaha who pay 2 grand for a five-bedroom with a fenced yard must be laughing their ass off right now.  (source = ap

AMERICAN IDOL – producers for the show admitted today that the group number that opens each results show is lip-synched.  “Due to extensive choreography and to balance their voices with open mikes against a screaming audience, the Idols do sing along to their own prerecorded vocal track…”  The guy apologized, but I think he misunderstood.  If they could just turn on a radio for the entire hour that would be terrific. ZHANG ZIYI – finally, new pictures of the “Crouching Tiger” star on a topless beach in January.  The guy understandably burying his face in her ass is her boyfriend.  Hopefully.  Otherwise I masturbated to a rape in progress, and there's no way I can talk my way out of that again.

While details of his character remain unknown, Isaiah Washington has been hired to star in at least 5 episodes of "The Bionic Woman" on NBC.  NBC also signed Washington to a development deal for the 2008-2009 season.  Executive producer David Eick says:

“I guess that I still abide by the credo that no publicity is bad publicity and for every person that doesn't watch the show because they're sensitive to the controversy I figure that we'll get two who will because they're curious. I just think that's sort of how it evens out in life. Eventually there will be a new scandal and no one will be thinking of this."

And NBC co-chair Mark Graboff said:

"He has learned his lesson about the way he acts around his fellow actors, and in public.  When you're on a television show – especially a high profile show – you have to be very careful about what you say both privately and publicly. So I think that we actually get the benefit of that experience with him coming onto our show. He deserves a second chance.”

Actually you should probably find whatever means the exact opposite of "he learned his lesson" and then say that, and then say "jackass" a bunch of times.  All he did was blame everyone else.  He sorta said he was sorry but he clearly didn't mean it.  He might as well have apologized for killing Dumbledore.

Newsweek has an interview with Isaiah Washington this week, and in it Isaiah of course addresses the "Greys Anatomy" controversy that led to his firing.  And while he says he regrets getting into an argument with Patrick Dempsey and then referring to castmate TR Knight as a "faggot", he says the real reason he was fired is because he's not some mush-mouthed negro.  Instead he's a 6-foot-1 black man with dark skin and who doesn't go around saying "Yessah, massa sir" and "No sir, massa" to everyone. Newsweek says:

"Patrick and I had a philosophical disagreement that got out of hand and that I regret a great deal," Washington says.
"I said a lot of negative things that were never reported, but there was one word that caught everyone’s attention, particularly someone who wasn’t even in the room with us. It was a fight between two men that shouldn’t have happened. But someone heard the booming voice of a black man and got really scared and that was the beginning of the end for me. I see that now, but I didn’t then."
"I apologized and showed my remorse for what I said and for the pain I caused anyone,’’ says Washington. "If a black man can’t get forgiveness in this country, when so many other people like Robert Downey Jr. and the governor of California get second and third chances … I think that says a lot about race and this country where we stand."
"Well, it didn’t help me on the set that I was a black man who wasn’t a mush-mouth Negro walking around with his head in his hands all the time. I didn’t speak like I’d just left the plantation and that can be a problem for people sometime," he says. "I had a person in human resources tell me after this thing played out that 'some people' were afraid of me around the studio. I asked her why, because I’m a 6-foot-1, black man with dark skin and who doesn’t go around saying ‘Yessah, massa sir’ and ‘No sir, massa’ to everyone? It’s nuts when your presence alone can just scare people, and that made me a prime candidate to take the heat in a dysfunctional family.’’
"My mistake was believing that I would get the support from my network and all of my cast mates across the board. My mistake was believing I could correct a wrong with honesty and sincerity. My mistake was thinking black people get second chances," he says. "I was wrong on all fronts."

I wish there were black people in Hollywood who were mush mouthed and went around saying "Yessah massa".  Because that would be funny.  I'd also like to see a bucktoothed Chinese guy with big thick glasses and an Italian guy with his shirt unbuttoned and he's got big gold medallions and mirrored sunglasses and he's tossing pizza dough into the air.  And his mom shakes a rolling pin at him and says, "why you breaka you mamas heart!".  A super racist Hollywood just sounds a lot more entertaining.

Isaiah Washington was fired from "Greys Anatomy" earlier this month after a much publicized incident where he called gay cast mate TR Knight a "faggot", but now Washington insists it was Knight who should have been fired. Us says

"They fired the wrong guy," says Isaiah Washington.
In a telephone interview with the Houston Chronicle, Washington claims that it was Knight who propagated the idea that the slur was targeted at him and created a negative work environment.
Washington also alleged to the Chronicle that Knight, 34, likely wanted a salary increase and a more substantive role for his character.
Knight, who acknowledged that he was gay after the incident, later said on The Ellen DeGeneres Show that Washington used the epithet against him. "Everyone (on the set) heard it,” he said.
"That's a lie," says Washington, a Houston native. "I used the word during a disagreement with Patrick. I apologized for that. We shook hands and went back to work."

It would be funny if Washington was right and Knight was really some fiendishly clever madman, a madman who risks everything to say someone called him a faggot, an evil genius orchestrating a cat and mouse game of lies and deception.  Man, if you think that dude hates gays now, wait until he's unemployed because one kicked his ass in a battle of cunning and wits.

Isaiah Washington has been fired from the ABC show "Grey's Anatomy" and his dismissal comes as a direct result of several well publicized incidents.  Back in October, Washington had a fight on set with Patrick Dempsey after Washington reportedly referred to gay castmate TR Knight as a "faggot".  He then again said "faggot "at the Golden Globes in January. He filmed a PSA last month decrying homophobic language, but in the end, sources say his behavior made him a liability.  People says:

The speculation is over: After a controversial season, Isaiah Washington will not be returning to Grey's Anatomy, his rep and ABC Television Studio have confirmed.
Howard Bragman, Washington's publicist, says Washington's option was not renewed, and released this statement from the actor: "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it any more."
The cast was notified Thursday night of the final decision, which, says a source close to the situation, was a long time coming.

The ironic thing is he works on "Greys Anatomy", a show that is unquestionably queer, and watched only by girls and gays.  It might as well be about shoe shopping or picking out curtains.  It's all dramatic love triangles, and that borders on gay erotica, so short of them dressing him in capri pants and snakeskin boots, he should have shut the hell up and been grateful as he cashed his giant checks.

Back in October, Isaiah Washington of "Greys Anatomy" had a fight on set with Patrick Dempsey because Washington reportedly referred to gay castmate TR Knight as a "faggot".  He then again said "faggot "at the Golden Globes in January.  The resulting backlash may still cost him his job, but part of his deal to save it for the time being was an agreement to do several PSA's, and the first one is now online.  Isaiah says:

"Words have power. The power to express love, happiness and joy. They also have the power to heal.  When you use words to demean a person because of their sexual orientation, race or gender, you send a message of hate – a very powerful message. But we all have the power to demand better of one another, and ourselves. We have the power to heal and change the world with the words we use."

This seem a little patronizing to anyone else?  From what I can tell he's dong a commercial where he tells me not to use homophobic language based on his history of using homophobic language.  If he wants to change anyone's opinion about him, one good step would be to change his name.  "Isaiah Washington" is the hardest name I've ever heard.  Some names define a personality and "Isaiah Washington" is definitely the name of a dude who says "fag" a lot.
