11.02.2007 dog is so screwed, part 2

Despite several apologies, actively seeking out black leaders and having the minister who performed his wedding - who is black - speak in his defense, A&E will remove "Dog The Bounty Hunter" from the network lineup.  The show has not been canceled, just taken off the air.  This move is a result of Dogs racist tirade during a private phone call with his son.  Yesterday, Dog issued this apology:

"My sincerest, heartfelt apologies go out to every person I have offended for my regrettable use of very inappropriate language. I am deeply disappointed in myself for speaking out of anger to my son and using such a hateful term in a private phone conversation. It was completely taken out of context. I was disappointed in his choice of a friend, not due to her race, but her character. However, I should have never used that term.
I am meeting with my spiritual adviser, Rev. Tim Storey, and hope to meet with other black leaders so they can see who I really am and teach me the right thing to do to make things right, again. I know that all of my fans are deeply disappointed in me, as well, as I have tried to be a model for doing the right thing. I did not do the right thing this time, and hope you will forgive me. We learn from our mistakes, as my story of overcoming a life of crime has proven, and I will learn from this one for the rest of my life."

A&E was apparently unmoved, and issued this statement earlier today:

"In evaluating the circumstances of the last few days, A&E has decided to take `Dog The Bounty Hunter' off the network's schedule for the foreseeable future  Friday. We hope that Mr. Chapman continues the healing process that he has begun."

Hopefully none of the people at A&E who canceled his show are black.  Because this probably won't help.

The National Enquirer has obtained a nearly 11 minute audio tape that captures Dog Chapman - the star of the A&E show "Dog the Bounty Hunter" - telling his son Tucker that he must break up with his girlfriend because she's a … um …  because she's of African American desent.  The Enquirer says:

In a shocking world exclusive The ENQUIRER has obtained tapes of two revolting phone conversations in which Duane "Dog" Chapman unleashes a filthy bigoted attack, littered with the N-word and other disgusting racial insults.
The star of the A&E reality show Dog, The Bounty Hunter directed his racist hatred at his son Tucker's girlfriend Monique Shinnery, who is black.

Go here to hear the tape, but be warned because he really does toss around "nigger" like 50 times.  Seriously.  It's bad.  The only way he could be any more owned in this thing is if he hung up the phone and Shaq was standing there.

UNSURPRISING UPDATE - A&E has just released this statement:  "A&E has just learned of the story released by the National Enquirer concerning Duane Dog Chapman. We take this matter very seriously. Pending an investigation, we have suspended production on the series. When the inquiry is concluded we will take appropriate action."
