It has just been reported that Morgan Freeman, 71, has been injured in a serious car accident in Mississippi. Freeman was responsive at the scene but his true condition is unknown. He was airlifted to a hospital in Memphis, TN. Early reports say that alcohol is not thought to have been a factor in the crash. You can read the updates on TMZ. word was, he was hanging a sharper curve than he expected going in, and overcompensated his steering, causing the car to go off the road and roll a few times. They had to use the jaws to get him and his passenger out.

Freeman came to UCLA for a lecture and we got to interview him at UCLAradio. He was so cool that afterwards he recorded a station ID for us which I always play during my show. The man is 100 kinds of awesome.

Mississippi Highway Patrol spokesperson Ben Williams said Freeman and a female passenger were traveling eastbound on Mississippi Highway 32 in Tallahatchie County when his vehicle went off the edge of the road. Freeman overcorrected, flipping his 1997 Nissan Maxima several times before coming to a rest.
Okay, that's awful. But what the hell was he doing driving a 97 Maxima??

Doc, agreed. I waited on his table over ten years ago and I said, "Could you BE any cooler?" and he laughed with that kick ass voice of his. Everyone loves him, especially because he's huge into our local charities and helping build the economy. Morgan is a god in the Memphis/Mississippi area.
