Yelling ‘rape culture’ is to northeastern liberal arts college feminists as yelling ‘Hook ’em, Horns’ is to UT football fans. It’s their self-identifying obsession. Every sane person in this country agrees that sexual assault is a horrible crime. People who commit violent crimes need to be prosecuted and locked away somewhere dark for many years. But that’s got little to do with painting with a broad brush groups like FORCE: Upsetting Rape Culture. Just the colon in their name let’s your know they’re obnoxious. Their membership ranks from the likes of Barnard and Columbia tells you the rest. They’re not cosmically enlightened, they’re girls from privilege looking to feel worthwhile. It’s rape culture or modern art shows. You’ve got to find something profound to do between spinning classes. A bunch of them FORCE girls got the clever idea to build some dead on imitation versions of a popular male-audience websites, most notably Playboy.com, and push a rhetorical campaign pushing for ‘consent’ as an absolute must include part of young guys college coupling experiences. The Upsetting Rape Culture folks called it a prank. The violated websites called it an uncalled for attack. I guess since the male web sites had a certain reputation it was okay for the anti-rapists to rape them. Chalk this one up to college feminists being more bitter than self-aware.
