Alicia Vikander Is Rising

Swedish actress Alicia Vikander is smoking hot. She also won an Oscar on Sunday. Further proof that God doesn’t believe in the redistribution of anything. Vikander won Best Supporting Actress for her role in The Danish Girl, in which she is married to a man who identifies as female. Her husband-cum-wife in the film was played by Eddie Redmayne, who was nominated for Best Actor, but did not win. Vikander said her win felt “surreal.” Know what’s very real? The overuse of the word “surreal.”

The takeaway of this story, other than a formal introduction to Vikander who I will deep Google later, is that transgender is the new retarded when it comes to The Academy Awards. As Robert Downey Jr. in blackface pointed out in Tropic Thunder, The Academy used to give out Oscars for playing retards. Examples include Tom Hanks in Forrest Gump and Dustin Hoffman in Rain Man. Now it’s the trannies’ turn. Boys Don’t Cry, Transamerica, and Dallas Buyers Club all had actors nominated for playing transgender characters, two of whom won the Oscar and the third of whom had to settle for a Golden Globe. Tootsie and Just One of the Guys were just too far ahead of their time. They would’ve been critically acclaimed think pieces in today’s milieu.
