No More Boogie Nights in L.A.

April 24, 2013 | News | editor | 0 Comments

Applications for permits for porn shoots have dropped to almost zero in LA. This comes after a city ordinance that now requires all porn actors to wear condoms during shooting, or prior to shooting, as it were. Just like any other film shoot, porn flicks need permits. In the past, LA county issued 500+ permits for adult films every year. Last year it dropped to 2. Since the golden age of bush in the 70’s, the American porn industry has been concentrated in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles. Boogie Nights gives you a good feel for literally how every block in the Valley had a house on it where somebody was producing porn. Last year, the fine residents of Los Angeles voted in Measure B which requires all porn productions to use condoms for all scenes of penetration, pink or stink. You might call the ‘Yes’ voters good hearted caring folk, or you might call them a bunch of people who hate anything to do with porn, primarily women who voted overwhelmingly to require the glove law. Of course, the law has now led to a mass exodus of production companies to places where they can legally shoot coke heads and girls with daddy issues having dangerous unprotected lovemaking. So, actually, nothing really got better. Which is strange, because that’s only the result of every nanny state law ever passed throughout the history of mankind.
