So nothing effectively changed yesterday in the court hearing concerning the control of Britney Spears estate while she is in a psychiatric ward. Jamie Spears and his attorney Andrew Wallette (or "Wallet", according to TMZ) are still the co-conservators of Britney's estate despite Britney’s “strong desire“ against it. Sam Lutfi is still under a restraining order and can have no contact whatsoever with Britney, not even e-mails, phone calls, letters, cryptic Craigslist ads or telepathy. The only interesting thing that happened was that the commissioner said Adam Streisand (the second cousin of Barbara Streisand) had no legal basis for claiming he's Britney's new lawyer and that there will be a hearing at some point to determine just how mentally competent Britney is. People magazine says:
A court-appointed lawyer for Britney Spears, Samuel Ingham, was also present, and testified that he met with her at the hospital Sundy for 15 minutes.
He added that in his opinion the pop star "does not understand the nature of these proceedings" or their impact on her future. He added, "I think she lacks the capacity" to hire a private lawyer.
In addition, a court-ordered physician will evaluate the singer's "competence to make her own decisions" and to report his findings on Feb. 13.
