Atlanta Hawks Owner Rats Himself Out to the NBA

Atlanta Hawks majority owner Bruce Levenson ratted himself out to to the NBA commissioners office for writing a racially tinged email to his own team management a couple years ago. The long memo covered many franchise operations topics, including how to get more rich white people to buy season tickets. It’s Levenson’s super racist inclination that middle aged white dudes in Atlanta have a lot more money to buy a lot more shit than the black demographic currently filling the seats at games. Levenson’s strategy to whiten up his arena mostly included replacing the hip hop music with lame rock music that fat white dudes can shake their ass to while their kids crawl under the seats. He also suggested maybe get a Nordic or two on the cheerleading squad.

“My theory is that the black crowd scared away the whites and there are simply not enough affluent black fans to build a significant season ticket base.”

I am not sure if this makes Levenson a racist or just a politically incorrect pragmatist. It’s not like the guy advocated burning crosses in front of the arena, he just wants his sales guys to get more rich white motherfuckers to go to his games and buy $100 jerseys for their bratty kids. He even went out of his way in his email to note that white people in Atlanta are irrationally scared of black crowds at public venues and how the atmosphere at the current Hawks games is one of the friendliest and safest in all of the NBA. Don’t hate the player, hate the game.

Pretending Levenson is the first person to acknowledge that it’s simply good business to target 28-55 year old white consumers with Roth IRAs is just part of the liberal tradition of ignoring reality because you’re too fucking scared to alienate your one black friend. Why Levenson turned himself in on some ticky-tack foul can be explained in three words: two billion dollars. That’s what the Sterlings got because Donald was caught on tape talking poorly about his hooker’s black friends. The Hawks are not doing all that well and Levenson’s looking to cash out. What more expedient way then finding a sort of innocuous email and falling on your sword as insensitive. Maybe Ballmer’s got a brother. This shit is getting out of hand.
