Cosmopolitan Mag Pulled From Walmart For Being Too Pornographic

April 3, 2018 | News | Elliot Wolf | 0 Comments

Women’s magazines are just another outlet for women to give other women terrible advice so I’m not up in arms over Cosmopolitan magazine being pulled from Walmart checkout areas in order to make more room for Country Home. I never knew that there was such a thing as a women’s magazine cover being too sexy to sell at the front of the store but apparently Walmart is a bastion of morality. Cosmo obviously needs to tone it down and slap a fully clothed nun on the next issue or take their lewd photographs to the Target nearby. Walmart is an establishment of elite standards, with an elite consumer base, racy Cosmo covers that could taint the mindset of an average upstanding Walmart shopper will not be tolerated.

Walmart will no longer carry Cosmopolitan magazine at its checkout lines after a lobbying group voiced concerns that the content is inappropriate for shoppers. Instead, the magazine will be relegated away from checkout toward the store’s regular magazine racks.

Activist Haley Halverson:

“Inside the cover this magazine is filled with not only hyper-sexualized images which objectify women but it’s also filled with degrading, pornified written content that encourages its users to watch pornography, to engage in anal sex, in violent sex, in public sex and more.”

I feel bad for the women in Walmart who can no longer impulse purchase a magazine that inspires female confidence with articles like “the best boxed wine while you’re on the rag” and “five easy signs to identify when it’s the right time to fist your best friend.” Maybe when Cosmo cleans up their act they’ll be back in the checkout section of Walmart to temp the lowest common denominators of society into picking up a copy.
