Carson Kressley Triggers People Who Have Had To Choose Which Child To Have Killed At Auschwitz

Monday was a particularly tough day for people who have previously had to choose which one of their kids to gas to death at Auschwitz, because Carson Kressley made a Sophie’s Choice reference while hosting the Miss USA 2018 pageant, and people are pissed. For those who don’t know, Sophie’s Choice was a thirsty Oscar bait movie starring Meryl Streep based on an equally thirsty book about a Holocaust survivor struggling to live with her harrowing past. This past includes the time the woman was forced to choose which one of her children to have murdered upon arriving at Auschwitz. This was… Sophie’s Choice. The saying is now used ubiquitously to mean “a difficult decision.” I was debating on writing about this or more shit on Selena Gomez’s fake lupus. That was a real “Sophie’s Choice.” And I’m beginning to think I “chose wrong.”

Anydamnway, in addressing the finalists at a pageant that I honestly didn’t know still existed, Kressley seemingly innocuously stated:

It’s like ‘Sophie’s Choice’! They’re all so good!

And now, much like that dead child, Kressley must also perish. Here are just a handful of the comments from triggered happy people:

Eeeeek: Carson Kressley on #MissUSA pageant looks at the Top 15 and says ‘It’s a Sophie’s Choice!’ Someone never read the book or saw the movie

So I guess if he were living Sophie’s Choice, she’d be the saved child & the others taken to be shot immediately? #classless #carsonkressley

@CarsonKressley Sophie’s Choice? Seriously? What a d—

Needless to say, this is the most important thing happening in the world this week, and I for one am glad that people are taking a stand. Kressley, if you’re reading this, please stop minimizing the experience of people who have had to choose which of their children to have gassed to death at a concentration camp. #wontbesilenced
