Jessica Chastain Disturbed By Cannes (VIDEO)

Not-quite-there Jessica Rabbit, Jessica Chastain, isn’t happy with the representation of women in the movies screened at Cannes Film Festival. The two-time Academy Award nominee and Cannes juror took a big dump on the ass sucking fest by scolding the crowd the closing press conference.

This is the first time I watched 20 films in 10 days, and I love movies, and the one thing I really took away from this experience is how the world views women. It was quite disturbing to me, to be honest. There are some exceptions. For the most part, I was surprised with the representation of female characters on screen in these films.

I do hope that when we include more female storytellers, we will have more women that I recognize in my day-to-day life. Ones who are pro-active, have their own agencies, just don’t react to the men around them. They have their own point-of-view.

Independent women are underrepresented in film. Just like in life. Chastain’s “day-to-day life” has never crossed paths with a Myrtle Beach bachelorette party. A group of girls on the verge of stabbing themselves with their Old Navy checkout line stilettos if they don’t get their insecurities fucked out of them. The bride will go on to molest Facebook with hundreds of pictures of her and her fiancé holding up bleak chalkboard doodles sharing the countdown to their wedding. Proof that she exists. This is the relatable woman.

Chastain went to Julliard and gets paid millions of dollars to out Oscar bait Meryl Streep. She’s been able to represent strong women in a surprising number of films including Dark Thirty, The Martian, and Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted. But a strong representation of women is a different story.

The Hadid sisters come to Cannes to air out their vaginas. Photographers vie for the perfect nip slip position on the red carpet. Magazines rave about the fuckability of Elle Fanning. Chastain and the rest of the jury awarded Sofia Coppola with the Best Director award for The Beguiled. The fact that Sofia Coppola told star Kirsten Dunst to be less of a fat cow makes her pro-active. Chastain would start an entirely new festival featuring only roles for women not defined by the men around them, shot by female directors. But she knows no one would go. And the movies would suck. And who can live on a true artist’s paycheck?
