Britney Spears Makeup Free Bravery

The bar for celebrity heroism is relatively low. Also, objectively low. A staunch Tweet against the alt-right, a donation of nearly 1/2500th of your annual income to flood victims in Houston, or posting make-up free on Instagram. Not listed in order of impressiveness.

There’s nothing more challenging than for a woman who was likely the hottest girl at her high school to take a photo of herself sans makeup. Or capture one hundred such photos in various light, angles, and compositions, and post the best looking one with a caption about being just a regular girl like everybody else. You don’t see guys doing this humble bragging with their dicks on Instagram. If you did, nobody would go on Instagram.

On days where I don’t get primped and made up for my show, this is the real unglammed me… so nice to meet all of you!!

Britney Spears stepped up to the challenge of her day to reveal the real her. Or as authentic as her custodial parent and the Westworld programmers back at the bunker would allow her to express herself. Here’s how I look with no makeup. Which is never. I put on seven pounds over the course of five hours most nights for shows, appearances, and shoots. The real Britney Spears actually is the one caked in makeup and squeezed into a bustier. Bryce Harper doesn’t declare his baseball uniform isn’t the real him. It is.

In a day and age when wealthy celebrities in gated communities feel compelled to appear as activists, the opportunities are becoming more and more affected. Not everybody can be Madonna with an entourage of nine limo-riding from the Ritz-Carlton to the Mall to call for the destruction of the White House during the Women’s March. Scarlett Johansson has abortions and giving herself a butch haircut. Olivia Wilde declared she doesn’t care if Neo-Nazis boycott her movies.

There’s not a lot of options left for the low impact resistor. Make-up free is a solid go-to. It’s like the Starbucks gift card for office birthdays. Zero meaning, but you know you’re going to use it.
