Paige VanZant is one of the few women participating in MMA that isn’t too bad to look at. She easily beats out most of her UFC peers in the looks department alone just but having a jawline that suggests she’s actually been 100% female for her entire life. Her appearance even improves drastically when she loses the aerodynamic cornrows and angry attitude appropriately fit to kick ass in the octagon. Recently Paige shed light on how competing at strawweight was slowly killing her. Who would have thought that being punched in the face after not eating for several days could be dangerous. VanZant is now being very vocal on how her current competition weight is affecting her for the worst.
The switch of divisions is a result of a brutal weight cut down to strawweight. VanZant has fought her whole UFC career at the 115lbs mark, but the process to make the limit is proving too difficult, even claiming it was 'killing' her.
"It's a big cut for me. I'm a lot heavier than people realize. I was honestly killing myself for this sport. In my last I want to say two fights or three fights, I've passed out in my bathroom. This last one, I passed out and had the doctors almost not cleared me for the fight.
"I'm a big advocate for body positivity and I was putting myself through an eating disorder to make weight.
Violent encounters after starving yourself actually has a place in this world outside of prison. Dana White is currently calling it the UFC. Hopefully VanZant has learned her lesson when it comes to making her body look the same as the hungry children on television that no one donates to. She plans on moving up in weight to 125. A break up with a boyfriend or binge watching Netflix should help her easily pack on the pounds in no time. If you possess the determination deemed necessary to be the best in your class at the bloodsport you basically have one of two paths to walk. Making it to a million dollars in the bank, or ending up like Million Dollar Baby. Either way, always go for broke and Paige isn’t backing down.
