Aly Raisman Puts In Little Effort For A Huge Cause

Surviving sexual assault is something Aly Raisman takes seriously. In fact, she’s so into her newly found survivor status that she takes her clothes off for empowerment purposes. She felt so amazing after scribbling a slew of words all over her naked body in Sports Illustrated’s Swimsuit edition that she decided to start a line of survivor swimsuit apparel. The bland merch looks similar to something someone who survived Auschwitz would wear from a spring/summer concentration camp cruise collection. Not exactly the aesthetic of Olympian athlete but at least it’s for a good cause.

The Team USA star — who took Larry Nassar to task at his sexual assault trial — just debuted a “survivor” swimsuit by Aerie … a women’s clothing brand dedicated to body positivity. But Aly says the super-scoop 1-piece was designed with an even greater purpose in mind — to raise awareness for all the kids victimized by sexual abuse … just like her and the hundreds of gymnasts who Nassar targeted.

The only problem I have here is that it’s impossible to casually wear a bathing suit that simply says “survivor” at the beach without having an awkward conversation after some asks about it. A swimsuit like that will put anyone in a completely different mood after their question has been answered. It’s hard to enjoy any body of water after knowing the woman swimming right next to you was penetrated multiple times without permission. Most men are attempting to bang hot babes with minimal effort. Not discuss the uncle who constantly tried to convince you the pitched tent in his pants was an ice cream cone. Sexual abuse is a very heavy topic. All who are curious enough to inquire will think you survived drowning or a shark attack only to find out it was much worse.
